a summer soiree

Abigail's first birthday party out at ST Ranch.

Cupcakes from Stein's. I made the candles from paper straws and tissue paper.

Old milk glasses with fabric tied bows and paper straws.

My mom had made these table cloths for Abigail's baby shower.

Votive candle holders hung from the trees.

Abigail enjoying the party from her throne.

Abigail and her friend Brinley.

She was more interested in the paper candle than the actual cake.

Feeding mommy birthday cake.

Feeding daddy birthday cake.

Cake smash.

I'm not sure she ever took a bite.

Opening her presents.

Running away from opening her presents.

Back to opening her presents again.

Ended the night with a bang.
Abigail's first birthday was everything I had wanted it to be and so much more. A wonderful day I'll never forget surrounded by family and friends celebrating the birth of our little miracle. Special thanks to a good friend who captured the day's events, Jon Bartosch.

sulking

Sulking at home with a terrible glass of wine. Just a little sad we weren't able to make it to our ten year high school reunion tonight. I guess the most important part of High School I've gotten to hold on to every day for the past ten years - my high school sweetheart, the love of my life, Jonathan. We have an amazing life together and especially more so now, because of the beautiful little family we've created together. I can't believe one week from today our tiny miracle will be a year old. I'd much rather be able to celebrate her birthday in a big way than mingle with people I haven't seen in ten years. Not really a compromise after all.

Don't be suckered by the cute name and label, Fancy Pants red is not very good. Down the drain it goes. Blah.

summer

Can't believe summer is coming to an end. What a wonderful one it has been. My sister got engaged, found out I'm going to have nephew and our beloved dog's tumor is benign. It's a summer I'll never forget with people I'll always remember (a quote I read on Pinterest).
